The History of the AC Cobra 289 by Hawk
Following on from the original Cobra 260, the 289 offered even more power than earlier car. The 289 used a revised 4727cc ( 289 cu") Ford V8 but retained the original steering arrangement and minuscule coachwork.
Later cars were renamed AC289 and featured rack-and-pinion steering and flared wheel arches.
Today the Cobra 289 tends to live in the shadow of the big block 427, which enthusiasts tend to regard as ultimate Cobra.
Genuine Cobras are rare finds and command healthy prices, specifications tend to vary from car-to-car.
